SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is is intended to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the faking of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time some email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies if it originates from an approved server. If it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet if it does not originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

When you host your domain names in a cloud hosting account with us and we manage the e-mails for them, you'll be able to activate SPF protection for them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a separate section where you can see which domain names are currently secured. For those that aren't, you will be able to enable the SPF protection service and manage numerous things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to create a rule that emails can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. The aforementioned choice is the most secure one, but it can be used if we manage the email addresses for your domains and you are not using some other e-mail service provider. The new records will propagate within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail by using your addresses.
